Chess improves logical-mathematical and visual-spatial intelligence, as well as self-control and patience. Students in this class will learn all of the fundamental concepts necessary to play chess at a basic level. Concepts include:  check, checkmate, stalemate, special rules, basic opening strategy, basic mating patterns, basic tactics, and basic end game principles.
